Meg Ryan stepped back into the spotlight for a rare mother-son appearance with Jack Quaid at the opening of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles.
The 64-year-old actress attended the September 19 event wearing a classic black dress featuring lace detailing. She completed the look with round sunglasses and wore her signature blonde hair loose around her shoulders.

Jack, 34, appeared beside his mother in a suit and noticeably towered over her as they posed together for photographs.
The outing offered an uncommon public glimpse of Ryan with her eldest child, who has built a successful acting career of his own.
Ryan has maintained a quieter public profile in recent years, while Jack has become widely recognized through major television and film projects.
A rare mother-son appearance
Ryan and Jack are seldom photographed at public events together.
Before their latest Los Angeles appearance, the pair had been pictured attending a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden in 2017.
Ryan shares Jack with her former husband, actor Dennis Quaid. She is also the mother of Daisy True Ryan, 21, whom she adopted in 2006.
With two established actors as parents, Jack grew up around the entertainment industry before eventually pursuing the same profession.

His career has now placed him firmly in the spotlight independently of the famous family in which he was raised.
Jack made an early film appearance in The Hunger Games in 2012. He later secured roles in the Scream franchise and the Academy Award-winning film Oppenheimer.
His most recognizable role has been Hughie Campbell in Prime Video’s The Boys. The series premiered in 2019 and concluded in 2026 after five seasons.
Jack reaches major personal milestone
The end of The Boys was not Jack’s only major development this year.
He reportedly married his longtime partner and co-star, Australian actress Claudia Doumit, in Australia in April. Both Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid were said to have attended the ceremony.
Jack confirmed the marriage during a June appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
His recent public outing with Ryan therefore arrived during a year marked by important developments in both his personal and professional life.
Ryan’s appearance alongside her son also highlighted the close support she has expressed for his work and accomplishments.
Meg Ryan defends her son’s career
Jack’s famous background has led to discussions about whether he should be described as a “nepo baby,” a label Ryan has openly rejected as unfair to his talent and dedication.

“Jack is really talented,” Ryan told Glamour.
“He’s more of a natural than I’ll ever be,” she added. “That nepo stuff is so dismissive of his work ethic, his gifts and how sensitive he is to the idea of his privilege.”
Jack has acknowledged that growing up with two actors as parents gave him an unusual childhood, even if it did not initially feel that way.
“I grew up with friends who also had parents in the industry, so it didn’t really feel different,” he told People.
“But then you grow up, and you realize that’s a pretty unique thing, that not one but two of your parents are actors. You don’t realize that things are slightly abnormal until later.”
While Jack recognizes the advantages of his upbringing, Ryan has remained adamant that his achievements should not be reduced to his family connections.
Their appearance at the Lucas Museum event brought those two careers together for one evening: Ryan, the celebrated star of films including When Harry Met Sally, and Jack, the grown son who followed both parents into acting and developed a recognizable body of work of his own.
