A Canadian rock singer whose voice and long hair helped define the late 1980s was recently photographed during a rare public outing in Los Angeles.
The musician was seen making his way through Los Angeles International Airport over the weekend. Although several decades have passed since his band reached its commercial peak, one familiar detail offered a strong clue to his identity: a “Youth Gone Wild” tattoo on his arm.
The rocker was Sebastian Bach, the former Skid Row frontman whose performances helped turn the band into one of the era’s most recognizable acts.
The tattoo that predicted Skid Row’s success
Bach’s tattoo takes its name from “Youth Gone Wild,” one of the songs that contributed to Skid Row’s rise alongside “18 and Life” and “I Remember You.”
The singer explained to Guitar International in 2014 that he had the title tattooed on his arm before the band found success
He rejected the assumption that he waited until the record had sold a million copies.
“I got it when we were completely unknown, when nobody knew that song,” Bach said. “That’s when I got it.”
The tattoo remained visible during his recent airport appearance, serving as a reminder of the conviction he had in the song long before it became a hit.
Bach may look different from the young frontman remembered by longtime Skid Row listeners, but music remains an active part of his life.
He is currently touring and joining Twisted Sister at several stops around the country.

Throughout his ascent with Skid Row, Bach became known not only for his voice and commanding performances but also for his long, smooth hair.
Speaking with GQ in 2016, the singer offered a characteristically direct explanation for maintaining it. He compared his hair to a lawn and said the best approach was simply to leave it alone.
Bach also acknowledged using a Brazilian blowout to maintain its appearance as he grew older.
His hair, tattoos and rock-star image made him one of the genre’s recognizable heartthrobs, and his appeal reportedly played a role in an unexpected moment involving two future Hollywood stars.
Christina Applegate’s awards-show revelation
Christina Applegate disclosed that she left the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards with Bach despite attending the event with Brad Pitt, who was her boyfriend at the time.
After the story appeared in Applegate’s memoir, You with the Sad Eyes, Bach addressed the incident during an interview with Billboard. He said he was surprised that the decades-old story had become public.
“I was a single guy on tour, in a band, and I met a lot of girls,” Bach said before apologizing if his actions had hurt Applegate or anyone else.
He described his younger years in rock music as a “whirlwind” and compared the experience to holding on during a roller-coaster ride.
“It was a long time ago,” he said. “If I hurt anybody, I apologize for it.”
Decades after Skid Row’s breakthrough, Bach continues performing, touring and attracting attention whenever he steps back into public view.
